Alleged DUI driver arrested after crashing into SUV in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol following a Saturday night crash in Hesperia.

At about 9:00 pm, on September 8, 2018, dispatch received reports of a crash near the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue and Main Street involving a silver 2013 Kia Optima and a white Chevy Tahoe.

According to the driver of the SUV, he and his family were waiting at the traffic signal light on northbound Cottonwood Avenue when the Kia crashed into them.

“I saw the car coming in my rear view mirror, it never stopped and just slammed into us,” the driver of the SUV told Victor Valley News. “I could have tried to move out of the way but thankfully I didn’t because he could have driven straight through the intersection and killed someone.”

The driver of the KIA, identified as Joe Anthony Quesada, 25, of Apple Valley, was administered a field sobriety test and subsequently arrested for DUI of alcohol.

Quesada was charged with VC23152(B) driving under the influence of alcohol with a .08 BAC. Court records show he was cite released and is no longer in custody as of September 9th. His case will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.

Paramedics responded to the scene and evaluated two adults and 3 children inside the SUV, however, all declined medical transportation.
