Adult Human Bone Found During Site Survey In Highland; Specialized Detectives Investigating
HIGHLAND, Calif. (VVNG.com) — An adult human bone was discovered during a site survey in Highland on Wednesday morning, prompting an investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail.
Deputies from the Highland Station were called at approximately 10:16 a.m. on May 27, 2026, to the area of Greenspot Road and Alta Vista Road after a reporting party discovered what appeared to be a human bone while conducting a site survey.
According to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the location, confirmed the discovery, and notified the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail, along with members of the Coroner’s Division and Crime Scene Specialists, responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
According to the written statement, investigators recovered an adult-sized humerus, a bone located in the upper arm. Authorities conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area for additional evidence.
The recovered remains will undergo forensic examination. Officials said additional information is pending DNA testing results, which will be used to help identify the remains.
The identity of the decedent has not been determined.
