ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) Adelanto residents are invited to participate in the second free dump day to be held at Adelanto Stadium on July 22nd.
In an effort to reduce illegal dumping, the City of Adelanto in coordination with AVCO Disposal Company is excited to host the second of three free dump days in 2017.
Residents who attend can properly dispose of unwanted items eliminating the need for a special trip to the County landfill.
“Our last Free Dump Day on April 22 saw residents bring in a combined—and record breaking—105 tons of various items and we’re hoping to duplicate or surpass that amount on July 22,” said Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr.
The Free Dump Day, set for Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Adelanto Stadium, is open to Adelanto residents who must provide proof of residence to participate.
The only restricted item that residents cannot bring is hazardous waste.
“They can bring mattresses, furniture, household trash, televisions, computer monitors, small tires (without the rims) paints, oil—just about anything that would find its way into a trash can, the landfill or worse…a field in Adelanto,” said Steven Peltier, Community Safety Manager.
Saturday’s event will be conducted differently than the last because of a Mud-Rud event being held adjacent to the Stadium.
“We will use one entrance and one exit, residents attending the Free Dump Day will be directed to the north entrance off of Adelanto Road only,” said Peltier. “All Mud Run and Bravo Burgers traffic will enter off Rancho Rd turning into Stadium Way while Dump Day visitors will exit Stadium Way onto Rancho Rd.
“Department of Community Safety staff will be on-site directing traffic so we’re expecting traffic to move smoothly,” Peltier added.
It’s estimated that close to 250 vehicles—hence, 250 residents—waited patiently to dispose of a variety of items. “The City of Adelanto is committed to ensuring a safe and clean community for our residents and visitors to enjoy and our Free Dump Day helps our community image tremendously,” said Kerr.
