Adelanto man arrested at home after injury hit-and-run crash

ADELANTO, Calif. ( — A 26-year-old Adelanto man was arrested at his home after fleeing the scene of a crash that left one person injured, officials said.

The hit-and-run crash was reported Sunday,  February 11, 2018, at 2:20 am, in the area of Palmdale and Verbena Roads in Adelanto.

According to sheriff’s spokeswoman Staci Parks, Deputy P. Rangel arrived and located one vehicle at the intersection with major damage.

“The driver was still in his vehicle with injuries and was transported from the scene to a local hospital. A second vehicle, with damage consistent with the collision, was located north of Verbena and Palmdale road with the drivers’ side door open and the airbag inflated. The driver of the vehicle fled the location on foot.,” stated Parks.

Later that evening at about 8:00 p.m., Deputy Rangel contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, identified as Joseph Jones at his home on Almond Street.

According to Parks, “Jones initially tried to say the vehicle had been stolen. Through further investigation and interview by Deputy Rangel, it was determined that Joseph Jones was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision.”

Joseph Jones was arrested for hit and run with injuries and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
