Adelanto man arrested after leading police on car, foot pursuit

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — An Adelanto man was arrested after leading deputies on an 8-mile pursuit and foot-bailing from the vehicle.
On January 29, 2019, at about 12:34 am, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation on Highway 395 near Seneca Road.
The driver, John Ray Lopez, 25, appeared as though he was going to stop after turning on to Seneca but began driving again after the deputy got out of his patrol car to contact him, officials said.
Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said, Lopez led the deputy on an 8-mile pursuit before eventually stopping at his home in the 10700
“When Lopez stopped the car he exited and fled on foot for a short distance before he was apprehended,” stated Rodriguez.
During the vehicle pursuit, Lopez ran several stop signs, exceeded posted speed limits, and violated other traffic laws.
Lopez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for evading a peace officer with disregard for safety.
The case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s office where it will be reviewed and additional charges considered.
