Adelanto man arrested after Friday night pursuit

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 44-year-old Adelanto man was arrested Friday night after leading deputies on a brief pursuit.
It happened at about 9:30 pm, on April 5, 2019, when Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Madrone Street and Lee Avenue in Adelanto.
The suspect, later identified as Robert Daryl Wharton, sped away and fled.
Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said the pursuit was about 2 miles when the driver stopped and ran but was apprehended quickly.
Wharton was arrested and charged with VC2800.2(A) Evading and two warrants.
According to public arrests logs, Wharton is being held without bail for PC273.5(F)(1) Injuring Spouse With Priors and PC246.3(A) Wilful Discharge of a Firearm. He is scheduled for arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on April 8, 2019.
