Adelanto man, 44, shot in the head, Suspect still at large

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Police are continuing to search for a gunman who shot a 44-year-old Adelanto man in the head, officials said.

The attempted murder happened at the Roadway Express Motel located at 17401 Lawson Avenue in Adelanto.

According to a witness, he heard gunshots and when he walked outside his hotel room he saw the victim jumping over a fence and into the hotel parking lot. The victim was reportedly bleeding from his head.

Deputies arrived and determined the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

“Deputies located the victim’s car across the street from the hotel with bullet holes and a broken windshield,” stated the news release.

As of Thursday afternoon, the suspect has not been identified and remains at large. Officials said the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

There was no update available on the victim’s condition.
