Adelanto Hosting First of Three Free Dump Day/Community Clean-Up for 2017

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) The City of Adelanto, in coordination with AVCO Disposal Company, is hosting the first of three Community Clean-Up and Free Dump days in 2017 for Adelanto residents to get rid of unwanted items—eliminating the need for a special trip to the landfill.

“This is something that we do each year in April, July and October to not only make it easier for our residents to get rid of unwanted items, but more importantly, to cut down on illegal dumping in the city,” said Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr. Kerr added that City crews collected 89 tons of trash in 2016.

Held coincidentally on “Earth Day 2017, the Community Clean-Up/Free Dump Day is open to Adelanto residents who must provide proof of residence to participate. The only restricted item that residents cannot bring is hazardous waste.

“They can bring mattresses, furniture, household trash, televisions, computer monitors, small tires (without the rims) paints, oil—just about anything that would find its way into a trash can the landfill or worse…a field in Adelanto,” said Steven Peltier, Community Safety Manager.

The first City of Adelanto Free Dump Day will be held on April 22nd.

Department of Community Safety staff will be on hand Saturday at both Adelanto Stadium at 7:30 a.m. to collect items, and at the corner of Auburn Avenue & New Hampshire Road at 8:00 a.m. for those who want to volunteer for the community clean-up.

“The City of Adelanto is committed to ensuring a safe and clean community for our residents and visitors to enjoy,” said Kerr.
