Adelanto Family Grieves Mother of Five Lost to Cancer, Seeks Community Support

ADELANTO, Calif. ( — A family is reeling from the loss of a mother of five, who tragically succumbed to her battle with cancer this year.

47 year-old Keisha Haggins of Adelanto, her husband, and their family relocated to the Victor Valley in 2006 seeking a new beginning and fresh opportunities. However, their lives took an unforeseen turn when on September 20, 2023, Keisha was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Desperate to secure the necessary treatment, the family encountered significant challenges attempting to obtain insurance.

“We discovered that it was impossible to obtain insurance for someone with a cancer diagnosis, and from that moment, our lives took a drastic turn for the worse,” Mr. Haggins revealed in an emotional interview with VVNG.

Struggling without coverage, Mr. Haggins painfully witnessed his wife’s suffering as the aggressive cancer rapidly spread throughout her body, including her brain.

Despite enduring excruciating pain, Keisha made an effort to spend one last Christmas with her family, witnessing her grandchildren open gifts before being admitted to the hospital that evening.

Tragically, her time home for the holidays marked her final moments with her husband and loved ones. Keisha passed away on New Year’s Day at 9:05pm, with her husband by her side.

Left shattered by the devastating loss, the Haggins family is now grappling with the immense challenge of arranging final services for Keisha.

In a heart-wrenching tribute, they shared, “It is with deep sorrow in our hearts that we announce the passing of Keisha Haggins. At only 47 years of age, Her hard fight with cancer ended on January 1st, 2024. Keisha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.”

Keisha’s vibrant spirit, love for music, and infectious laughter touched the lives of all who knew her. Her passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her loved ones, including her husband, five children, and eight grandchildren.

In an effort to support the Haggins family during this trying time, a GoFundMe account titled “Help send Keisha home” has been created by her family to assist with her funeral expenses. Every donation and act of solidarity is deeply appreciated as the family navigates through this profound loss, they stated.
