HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 50-year-old Hesperia man died after a shooting Monday night, and deputies later arrested the victim’s brother in connection with the homicide.
The shooting was reported on May 11, 2026, at about 10:45 p.m., on Second Avenue near Olive Street in Hesperia.
According to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrived and located Adrian Clay Wrice, suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived.
Wrice was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies identified the suspect as Talib Elisha Venegas, 30, of Hesperia, who is Wrice’s brother. Authorities said Venegas fled the scene before deputies arrived.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division–Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation.
An arrest warrant was later issued for Venegas, and with assistance from the Specialized Enforcement Division, he was taken into custody. Authorities said Venegas was booked into the High Desert Detention Center, where he remains in custody without bail.
