53 red light violators cited during a 1-day operation in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A one-day traffic enforcement targeting drivers running red lights in Victorville resulted in 53 citations, officials said.

On March 30, 2019, Victorville Police Department’s Traffic Division conducted a Red-Light Enforcement Operation, focused on reducing traffic collisions caused by violators.

According to a sheriff’s news release, deputies concentrated on the intersections of Nisqualli Rd and Balsam Ave, Ridgecrest Rd and Bear Valley Rd, Industrial Blvd and Bear Valley Rd, and Amargosa Rd and Palmdale Rd.

As a result, a total of 53 citations were issued for red-light violations.

“Of the 53 drivers cited, 2 received additional charges of driving with a suspended license and one vehicle was towed,” officials said.

Authorities said similar operations are expected to be conducted throughout the year.

“As the number of drivers on our city streets continues to rise, our commitment to safety remains our top priority,” stated the release.

The operation was made possible through a grant from the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program, the leading source of funding to state and local law enforcement to support such operations.
