BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 28-year-old Barstow woman is behind bars on child abuse-related charges after police say she struck and injured a 5-month-old boy.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that on Thursday, December 19, 2019, the Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail, responded to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) for a Child and Family Services immediate response referral.
According to a sheriff’s news release, “the five-month-old victim was admitted to LLUMC with seven healing rib fractures, bruises on his wrist and petechiae (broken capillaries) on his face.”
The Crimes Against Children Detail conducted an investigation in the 27700 Block of Brucite Road in Barstow and at the conclusion of the investigation, Kristin Andrews was arrested for PC 273a(a), Felony Child Abuse.
Officials did not specify the relationship between the victim and the suspect but did say Andrews is related to the victim.
Kristin Danielle Andrews was booked at Central Detention Center and her bail is set at $100,000. According to public arrest records, she is scheduled for preliminary arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on December 23, 2019.
