32 dogs seized from Phelan home; felon with gun arrested

PHELAN, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 43-year-old previously convicted felon was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition after officials served a search warrant at his Phelan residence.

The suspect, Rick Kenny was arrested at his home in the 3600 block of Daisy Lane on Apil 11, 2018.

“The Sheriff’s Rural Crime Task Force was assisting San Bernardino Humane Society, with the service of their warrant based on a long-term investigation into animal neglect and cruelty at an illegal breeding/sales operation,” sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

Rancho Cucamonga Animal Control and San Bernardino County Animal Control assisted with 32 dogs, 17 puppies, and 15 adult dogs all seized from the property. Officials said the animals were sick and required veterinary care.

Kenny was arrested at the scene for possession of a firearm and ammunition, which he is prohibited from having. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center and is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.

According to booking logs, Kenny is scheduled for arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on April 13, 2018.
