27-year-old arrested after attempting to evade police in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 27-year-old suspect is behind bars after attempting to evade sheriff’s deputies Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at about 4:10 pm, on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, as Deputy M. Fisher was patrolling the area of El Cariso and Del Gado Roads in the unincorporated area of Victorville.

According to a sheriff’s news release, the deputy saw a vehicle traveling east on El Cariso Road driving at high speeds and attempted to make a traffic stop.

“The driver of the vehicle continued to drive the vehicle at a speed exceeding the posted speed limit and failed to yield to the lights and sirens of the patrol vehicle,” stated the release.

The pursuit came to an end a short distance away on El Cariso and Borego Road.

The driver of the vehicle, Gerardo Covarrubias Jr, was arrested on charges of evading a peace officer and booked at High Desert Detention Center. On January 2, 2019 the Victorville District Attorney’s office filed a felony count of evading against Covarrubias.
