$250 stolen from Victor Valley Rescue Mission donation bin in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A burglary suspect hiding inside the Victor Valley Mission Thrift Store and waited until it closed to steal money from a donation bin, officials said.

On October 19, 2019, at about 8:54 am, dispatch received a call of a commercial burglary at the Victor Valley Rescue Mission on the 17300 block of Main Street in Hesperia.

Deputies responded to the location and learned that the day before at about 7:30 pm, a Black male adult entered the front doors to the rescue mission and walked north through the store to the back where the main office door and break room door are located.

“The subject then managed to stay inside of the store after it closed and took $250 from the donation bin. The subject then made his way to the Dollar Tree store which is located next door,” stated Hesperia sheriff’s spokesman Edgar Moran.

Moran said the subject exited the attic through the Dollar Tree break room ceiling and exited the store through an emergency exit.

Deputies gathered evidence at the scene and the investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hesperia Police Department at 760-947-1500.
