2 teens arrested after snatching elderly woman’s purse in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — Two teenage boys were arrested Valentines Day after they snatched an elderly woman’s purse, officials said.

Sheriff’s Deputies from the Hesperia station responded to a purse snatching call at 4:05 p.m., on February 14, 2018, in the 16800 block of Main Street.

“It was reported that 2 male juvenile suspects approached a 75-year-old female victim, took her wallet, and fled the scene,” stated sheriff’s spokeswoman Jackie Chambers.

One of the juvenile suspects ran inside C Street Station Antiques “HD Pickers” located at 9640 C Avenue in Hesperia. Owner, Lydia Marsala was inside and said the suspect asked to use the restroom. Feeling uneasy about the situation and fearing for her own safety, she decided to wait outside as the subject used the restroom, that’s when she saw the second suspect who was shouting his friend’s name.

Both subjects fled from the business and were apprehended a short time later.

“Deputies in the area where able to located both juvenile suspects with the assistance of the victim and were able to take them into custody without incident,” stated Chambers.

Lydia informed deputies that one of the suspects had used the restroom inside her business. Deputies checked and found the victim’s wallet laying on the floor.

Both juveniles were booked into the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center in Apple Valley. According to Chambers, no weapons were used and no injuries were reported.
