2 suspects on felony probation arrested for strong-armed robbery in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two Victorville men on felony probation were arrested for strong-armed robbery in Apple Valley.

It happened on July 8, 2018, at the O’Reilly Auto Parts in the 20900 block of Bear Valley Road.

At about 8:52 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the business reference a theft.

“Two male subjects stole several items of merchandise and walked out of the store without paying for the product. When an employee confronted the subjects, the employee was physically assaulted,” stated Sergeant Laura Marks.

According to Sgt. Marks, witnesses provided a good description of the subjects as well as a vehicle description and deputies located the vehicle within 10 minutes.

Cody Mason, 25, and Jose Yepez-Ponce, 26, both on felony probation were taken into custody without incident.

“Fortunately, the store employee had visible injuries, which did not require medical treatment at that time,” stated Marks.

Mason is being held without bail for PC211 Robbery, HS11173(A) Obtaining a control substance by fraud, and PC 1203.2 Probation Violation. He is scheduled to appear in a Victorville courtroom on July 10, 2018.

Yepez-Ponce is being held without bail for PC245(A)(4) Assault with Deadly Weapon, PC211 Robbery, and PC1203.2 Probation Violation. He is scheduled to appear in a Victorville Courtroom on July 11, 2018.
