2 people shot and killed at Hesperia residence after alleged assault on elderly man

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man and a woman were shot and killed at a Hesperia home after an alleged assault on an elderly man early Thursday.

At about 3:30 am, on May 9, 2019, deputies from the Hesperia sheriff’s station responded to an assault involving an elderly man and a shooting that had occurred at a residence in the 17000 block of Adobe Street, officials said.

According to a news release, Upon arrival, deputies were advised that a shooting had occurred when a resident in the home was awakened by the elderly homeowner calling out for help while being assaulted by two suspects identified as Raymond Santana, 42, and Arlin Lamas, 28, both residents of Victorville.

“The resident/reporting party came to the elderly man’s aid, a shooting occurred striking Santana and Lamas,” stated the news release.

Santana was pronounced deceased at the scene and Lamas was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

Officials said neither Santana and Lamas lived at the residence.

The elderly adult male received multiple injuries during the assault but did not require medical attention. 

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. 

Sheriff’s officials said no arrests have been made and the report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
