PINON HILLS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 20-year-old Pinon Hills was arrested after a pair of 2-month old twin girls were found to have injuries, officials said.
It happened on Friday, June 29, 2018, when the 2-month-old infant was transported via ambulance from St. Mary’s Hospital in Apple Valley to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) for a femur fracture.
“During a medical examination at LLUMC, forensic pediatricians found additional fractures on Victim #1. The San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) aided in the investigation and obtained custody of Victim #1 and Victim #2. Subsequently, Victim #2 was examined by forensic pediatricians and found to have fractures. Both victims (twins) were hospitalized at LLUMC and the injuries were consistent with suspected child abuse,” stated sheriff’s officials in a news release.
Investigators determined the victims reside in Pinon Hills with Anthony Gutierrez.
Following an extensive investigation and collaboration with Forensic Pediatricians from LLUMC and CFS, Anthony Gutierrez was arrested on July 4, 2018. He was booked at Central Detention Center for Willful Cruelty to a Child and bail was set at $100,000.
According to public arrest records, Gutierrez is no longer in custody and posted bail on July 4, 2018, at 10:40 pm, and has no scheduled court appearance. Child abuse cases are typically forwarded to the DA’s office for review.
