2 killed, 1 airlifted in Sunday evening crash on Highway 395

UPDATE 4/9 @ 8:30 AM – The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department identified the drivers in the crash as Ruben Luna, 24, of Adelanto and Robert Lee, 62, of Rialto. According to the coroners, both were declared dead on scene by San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel.

ADELANTO, Calif. ( — A double-fatal crash prompted authorities to shut down a stretch of Highway 395 for several hours Sunday.

Firefighters with San Bernardino County Fire responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision on US-395 near Desert Flower Road, just north of Adelanto.

SBCoFD Public Information Officer Jeremy Kern said an Adult male was airlifted to a trauma center after he was extricated. Two other people were pronounced deceased at the scene.

“We will likely be requested back out to respond to assist with the extrication,” stated Kern.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
