ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two people involved in a head-on traffic collision on Highway 395 were killed early Tuesday morning.
The crash involving a 2015 Chevrolet Captiva and a 2012 Hyundai Sonata was reported at 4:35 am, near mile marker 20.50 along US Highway 395.
“The investigation revealed the driver of the Hyundai was traveling northbound on US-395, at an elevated speed, passing two other vehicles over a set of double yellow line markings in the roadway, directly into the path of the Chevrolet, which was traveling southbound. Both drivers turned their vehicles to the west in an attempt to avoid a collision but collided head-on causing fatal injuries to both involved parties,” stated a California Highway Patrol news release.
CHP officials said, the driver of the Sonata, a 39-year-old female from Edwards, CA, was properly restrained at the time of the crash. The driver of the Captiva, a 36-year-old male from Helendale was not wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this collision.
