17-Year-Old Behind Wheel Of Stolen Kia Crashes After 100+ MPH Chase In Victorville
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested Saturday night following a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash in the City of Victorville.
The incident occurred on April 11, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m., when deputies attempted a traffic stop on a stolen white Kia Optima.
The vehicle was initially located after an automated license plate reader (ALPR) alert at the intersection of Mojave Drive and Cobalt Road in Victorville.
An ALPR system uses cameras to capture and scan license plates, comparing them against databases of stolen or wanted vehicles, allowing law enforcement to quickly identify and locate vehicles of interest.
The driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.
According to authorities, the suspect drove at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, ran multiple red lights and stop signs, and nearly collided with several vehicles during the chase.
The pursuit came to an end when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence near the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Hesperia Road.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot but was quickly detained a short distance away by deputies.
The juvenile was arrested and booked at juvenile hall. No additional information was immediately available.
