ADELANTO, Calif. (news release) — The City of Adelanto is closing out the year with several activities designed to unite the community and contribute to a festive environment.
Starting Saturday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. the city will host its 13th Annual Christmas parade. The parade, which includes 47 entries, will begin at the corner of Seneca & Aster Roads, proceeding east on Seneca and ending at Desert Trails Elementary School on Bellflower Street. Grand Marshals for this year’s parade are Jerry Davis, CSPA Group President and Brad Eckenweiler, Chief Executive Officer, Lifestyle Delivery Systems Inc.
At the final City Council meeting for 2017 on Wednesday, December 13 winners in the HANDLEBARS FOR CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY will be revealed at 7:00 p.m. The City of Adelanto once again collected non-perishable food items to support two food pantries, High Desert Outreach and Adelanto Community Resource Center.
Students from schools throughout the city who donated a food item were given a GOLDEN TICKET, and winners will be selected from all the GOLDEN TICKETS to see who will receive one of many donated bicycles.
Finally, next week’s Council meeting will also celebrate the city’s 47th Anniversary. The city was incorporated December 22, 1970 with the first City Council comprised of Rex Bean, William York, Patricia Chamberlaine, Kenneth Murphy, and Gus Ronnebeck.
