10-year-old student found with “Kill List” in Barstow

BARSTOW, Calif. (  — Barstow Police detained a 10-year-old boy for questioning after they found him with a “kill list”, officials said.

On March 22, 2018, at approximately 12:28 p.m., Barstow S.T.E.M. Academy Principal Vinney Williams notified School Resource Officer Montoria Franklin that he received a telephone call from a concerned parent, who said their child told them, via text message, that another student asked if he wanted to see his “Kill List”.

The student with the list was immediately taken to the principal’s office where Williams confiscated the “Kill List” that contained several student’s names.

Detective D’Andrea arrived at the school to assume the investigation and conducted a search of the suspect for weapons, which none were found. Detective D’Andrea conducted interviews with several of the student’s, their parents and the suspect during the investigation.

Barstow Police said, there is no evidence that the suspect had access to weapons at any time and the information obtained during the investigation, led to the suspects arrest.

The 10-year-old suspect was later released to his mother with a citation for violation for 664/422 PC – Attempt Criminal Threats. The suspect’s mother was issued a citation for W&I 660.5 – Youth accountability.
