1-year-old child hit by car in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. ( — A 1-year-old child is fighting to stay alive after being struck by a car in the driveway of an Apple Valley home Tuesday afternoon.

At about 1:38 p.m., firefighters with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian in the 11900 block of Pasco Road.

Per scanner information, the toddler was reportedly in full cardiac arrest.

Firefighters at the scene requested a medical helicopter to airlift the child to a trauma center, however, the request was later canceled and the child was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller said no update was immediately available on the child’s condition, and provided no further details on the incident.
