VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – One person died and another person was rescued after their vehicles became submerged in a storm-swollen wash.
At about 6:00 p.m., on Friday, February 17th, 911 dispatch received several calls from witnesses who said they watched two cars get swept into a wash from Pebble Beach Drive.
San Bernardino County Fire responded and located two vehicles, one Mercedes fully submerged and dark sedan partially submerged.
A Swift Water Rescue Team was requested, meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Helicopter (40King) was able to rescue one person that climbed out of their vehicle and onto the roof of the car.
The helicopter was able to get low enough to pull the person to safety using a rope.
“We have confirmed the presence of one adult male deceased inside the car,” stated Sherwin, referring a person in the Honda that was fully submerged.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
