
Afghanistan – One of the three soldiers killed in Afghanistan was Sgt. William M. Bays of Barstow, officials confirmed.
The U.S. Military identified three U.S. soldiers killed in what they are calling an insider attack by an Afghan ally soldier on U.S. service members.
The three soldiers were identified as, Sgt. Eric M. Houck, 25, of Baltimore; Sgt. William M. Bays, 29, of Barstow, California; and Cpl. Dillon C. Baldridge, 22, of Youngsville, North Carolina.
The three American soldiers were all from the Army’s 101st Airborne Division. A fourth U.S. soldier was wounded in the firefight in Peka Valley in the Achin district of Nangarhar province on Saturday.
The shooter responsible for their death’s- an Afghan National Army’s Commando Forces- was shot dead in return fire.
“Our sincerest condolences go out to the family, friends, and servicemembers. They all made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of this great Nation, and we are forever indebted to them,” said the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in a Facebook post Monday morning.
