Woman Shoots and Kills Her Husband; Motive Unknown

NEWBERRY SPRINGS, Calif: (VVNG.com)- A 54-year-old Newberry Springs woman is under arrest for the murder of her husband.

On Thursday, August 11, 2016, at approximately 4:05 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of a shooting in the 30000 block of Harvard Road in Newberry Springs.

When deputies arrived they made contact with June Popiolek, in front of her residence.

Deputies entered the home and located the victim David jay Popiolek, 53, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. David was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location to conduct the investigation.

June Popiolek was arrested for PC 187 Murder and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities haven’t released any details regarding  a possible motive behind the murder.
