Victorville, Calif. (news release) — A new gateway high visibility building, is slated to begun construction this summer, in time for student use in the Fall of 2019. The new VVC Student Services Center will provide a symbolic “Front Door” to the college, beyond just a “One” Stop”. Throughout the entire design process, student input has been a pivotal factor, including their insight gathered from several visits to other community college campuses. Counseling and other student services such as Admissions, Assessment, EOPS, and Financial Aid will occupy the center freeing up much needed space for additional student classrooms.
Victor Valley College, DLR Group and California Construction Management, Inc. invite local contractors and subcontractors to participate in a Contractor Outreach / Pre-Qualification Workshop for the future Student Services Center. The upcoming open house workshop is scheduled for Thursday, March 8th from 10:00 AM, – 12:00 PM., at Victor Valley College’s Student Activities Center in building 44. During the workshop, attendees will learn about the new upcoming $ 20 Million, 26,860 square foot, Student.Services Center, as well as reviewing the prequalification process, bonding, safety program and much more
According to Steve Garcia, Director of Facilities, Construction & Contracts, “Victor Valley College’s goal is to maximize opportunities for local subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors on construction projects at VVC. We want to ensure to achieve maximum participation of local businesses and workers in all phases of our campus projects”. This includes Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Structural steel, Framing, Roofing, Low voltage/ signal, Glazing & Concrete/Asphalt. Etc. This new soon to be under construction Student Services One stop building will utilize a multiple Prime delivery method which breaks the project up into approx. 16 or more divisions of work. By using this method it eliminates the role of a general contractor and allows the individual scope of work packages to be bid directly to the District. Use of the Prime delivery method, as well as, extended project notice will ensure maximum competition and inclusion of local businesses in all project phase’s

Not only it’s convenience, housing all components of student support services, the One Stops’ location will allow for easy accessibility for its students locally. The One Stop offers a way to conveniently meet students’ academic needs and streamlining the process of college enrollment services.
