Victorville, Calif. – The City of Victorville is now recruiting volunteers for the upcoming Victorville Community Cleanup Day scheduled for Saturday, April 8. Volunteers need to sign up by Mar. 22 to receive an event t-shirt.
To make it easier to sign up, the City now offers participants the option to register online at www.VictorvilleRecycles.com. To register, volunteers simply click on the “Community Cleanup Registration” link.
Participants can also sign up by filling out a paper registration/waiver form that can be downloaded from the City of Victorville website at www.VictorvilleCa.gov (Quick Link: Community Cleanup). Volunteers can also pick up registration/waiver forms at Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Dr. City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Individuals are encouraged to join with friends, family, and community groups to create teams to participate. The event is open to all High Desert residents. Businesses and community groups are also encouraged to create teams to participate. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and discount coupons for lunch at more than a dozen participating Victorville restaurants.
The Victorville Community Cleanup Day is a semi-annual event, held each April and October. The first cleanup was held in October 2007. Since then, more than 11,400 volunteers have worked together to collect over 136 tons of litter from Victorville roadsides.
During the October 2016 cleanup, more than 940 people volunteered, collecting 9.73 tons of litter from 33 different sites.
The City is also seeking sponsors for the event. Sponsors are listed on the event t-shirt worn by hundreds of volunteers. In addition, sponsors are listed on all event fliers, posters, and advertisements.
