She thanked the council for their support and stated she looked forward to opportunities to work together to “enrich the lives” of the citizens.

Blanca Gomez, an educator at Cal State San Bernardino, has officially joined Mayor Gloria Garcia and Mayor Pro Tem Jim Cox as the November electeds onto a council that includes mid-term councilmen Jim Kennedy and Eric Negrete.

During public comments Scott Markovich said he thought Gomez was considered “quite the underdog” throughout her campaign, but that it was her basic grassroots and caring about people that earned her a seat.

“Our democracy sometimes allows people like Blanca to break “the glass ceilings”,” stated Markovich.
