When fire personnel arrived on scene, they found a trash compactor behind the building was on fire, Public Information Officer Ryan Vicarro stated.

The store was then evacuated and closed after light smoke entered the building. Employees propped open the doors with chairs to allow the building to ventilate.

The fire was knocked down at 7:52 p.m., however, firefighters remained at the scene for several hours to conduct extensive overhaul. A fire investigator was requested to the scene.

It’s not yet known how long the store will remain closed for.

According to Vicarro, a full structure response was dispatched which included 2 truck companies, 4 medic engines, and a Battalion Chief.

The fire remains under investigation as of Sunday night.
