Victorville City to Beautify Stretch of 7th Street

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) Plans to beautify a small, but highly trafficked stretch of 7th Street was discussed Wednesday at the Planning Commission meeting.

The Public Works Department proposed relandscaping an area of 7th Steet that became an eyesore after the City underwent a Lawn Conversion Project some time ago.

The concept consists of drought-tolerant desert design to replace the existing trees and previous turf located between Valley Center Drive and Lorene Drive.

A focal feature of the landscaping includes weathering (corten) steel curved walls with Route 66 logos cut from the steel.

The Planning Commission staff is in support of the purposed plan. However, details about the plant size and quantity as well as the rock material have not been finalized.

Once all the specifics on the materials and design have been determined, the item will be placed on a future agenda for the City Council to approve.
