CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — One person was killed and several others were critically injured after a vehicle went over the side of the I-15 freeway Saturday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, at 11:47pm, a vehicle went off the right shoulder approximately 150-250 feet down an embankment along the southbound 15 freeway, just north of Highway 138.
According to the logs, at least one person was ejected with others trapped inside the vehicle. Paramedic-firefighters with San Bernardino County Fire responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene.
According to scanner traffic, one person was airlifted to a trauma center and another was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Information on the injured were not immediately available.
The crash prompted officials to temporarily shutdown the entire southbound side of the 15 freeway as they investigated the crash. The no.1 lane re-opened at 12:38am, per the logs
The call was changed from a traffic collision to a fatality and authorities at the scene requested the San Bernardino County Coroners to respond to the scene.
The official cause of the crash is under investigation by the Victorville CHP office. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call (760)241-1186.
