Town Manager Lauded for Innovation and Leadership

APPLE VALLEY:(VVNG.COM)– On July 15, 2014, on the heels of industry awards for innovation and leadership, the Apple Valley Town Council surprised Town Manager Frank Robinson with a recognition ceremony at last week’s meeting, lauding him for promoting the collaboration of High Desert cities, which has resulted in the Opportunity High Desert partnership.

There is a good reason why Apple Valley is the best place to live, work and play in the High Desert,” said Robinson. “We’ve had our challenges with a tough economy, but this council, this staff and this community works together for the greater good. I’m very proud of our accomplishments.”

Opportunity High Desert is one of the ways Robinson has lead the Town in combating the recession. An effort to market the area regionally, Apple Valley, Adelanto, Hesperia and Victorville have pooled their resources and staff to show corporations, manufacturers and other businesses that the High Desert is a great place to do business. Council wished to acknowledge Robinson’s role in the promotion of such a powerful effort.

In part, the plaque Robinson received states, “We salute you for your commitment to creating ‘One Regional Vision’ that has enhanced opportunities in our desert communities, establishing a partnership where one vision is shared by all.”

The award coincided with the sixth anniversary of his employment with the town, which was also noted during the ceremony.

The Council felt it was a good time to recognize him, not only for the impact he has made regionally, but also for the commitment he has shown to our Town,” said Mayor Art Bishop.

Staff commends him for keeping morale high by sharing information and making himself accessible to staff. He is known for providing an organizational environment that fosters creativity and collaboration and encourages self improvement and opportunity through education. Under Robinson’s encouragement, 18 town employees have returned to school to complete bachelor degrees or pursue a master’s degree in recent years.
