Thursday night Apple Valley church fire under investigation

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A fire at the Church of the Valley in Apple Valley destroyed one outbuilding and caused extensive damage to a second structure Thursday night.

The fire was reported around 10:30 pm, at the church in the 20700 block of Standing Rock Avenue.

Arriving firefighters with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District reported the structures well involved in flames, scanner traffic reported. After an aggressive attack the fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes.

While there was no damage to the Church Sanctuary, there was extensive damage to the two buildings involved. Both buildings were used by the Church to store items used at rummage sales and other community service projects.

A similar fire last year destroyed a number of other buildings on the church campus.

No injuries were reported as result of the fire. Apple Valley Fire investigators were on scene attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
