Suicidal Man Sucessfully Talked Down from Freeway Overpass

VICTORVILLE-( At about 10:45 A.M., on Saturday, September 5th Deputies arrived to the Palmdale Road and I-15 overpass to find a 34-year-old Hispanic Male adult in distress and threatening to jump to the freeway below.

Upon arrival, Victorville Deputies G. Garcia and E. Oliveros found Mario Delvalle holding on to the protective fence of the Palmdale bridge ready to jump. Both Deputies immediately began talking to him and building a rapport.

CHP assisted in closing the freeway, and Victorville Fire responded with a ladder truck. Garcia and Oliveros displayed courageous calm and were able to convince Delvalle not to jump.

At about 11:08 a.m. Delvalle was safely brought to safety with the use of a San Bernardino County Fire Department ladder truck parked below on the freeway, and taken for treatment.

Exemplary professionalism and teamwork by all agencies and personnel involved lead to the saving of Delvalle’s life.
