Strong Smell of Smoke Reported in the Victor Valley

(VVNG.com)- Victor Valley residents have made reports of seeing and smelling smoke. According to the San Bernardino Fire Department, the smoke is that of drift smoke coming for the wildland fire in Yosemite. As of 10 a.m. on July 29th The El Portal Fire, in the Yosemite area, has burned over 3,060 acres and is approximately 19% contained.

The blaze at this time is threatening several area homes and at this time at least one structure has been destroyed by this wildfire. Approximately 640 personnel from different agencies are assigned to the area to help contain the fire. The evacuation remains in effect for the areas of Foresta, Big Oak Flat Road at Crane Flat. Yosemite Creek Flat and Bridalveil Campgrounds are closed at this time. At this time Highway 120, 140 and 41 remain open.
