SR-247 Closed Due to High Winds and Limited Visibility

LUCERNE VALLEY-(VVNG.com): Caltrans District 8 alerted drivers on Thursday afternoon that SR 247 was closed in both directions from the 1-15 to Rabbit Springs Road.

The southbound closure lasted for around an hour when at 4:40 p.m. SR-247 was reopened to southbound traffic only, Caltrans Official said.

Caltrans officials said on a Twitter “tweet” that the closure is due to high winds and poor visibility that were predicted by the National Weather Service on Wednesday.

The closure was requested at around 2:25 p.m. and was in place by 3:48 p.m. on Thursday per CHP logs. At this time, Caltrans officials have no projected time for the reopening of northbound lanes.

The NWS predicts that high winds will continue throughout Thursday and on Friday coming back to the Cajon Pass then moving to the rest of the Inland Empire through Saturday.
