Son arrested for murder in mother’s stabbing death in Rancho Cucamonga

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — A 27-year-old man was arrested for murder after he allegedly stabbed his mother to death, officials said.

It happened at 4:47 am, in the city of Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, after 911 dispatch received a call where the phone line was left open and dispatchers heard a woman screaming for help in the background.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 11100 block of Etiwanda Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga and entered the apartment, where they found the victim in medical distress and suffering from several serious stab wounds.

Despite life-saving measures, the victim, Sean Carla Stanley, 53, of Rancho Cucamonga was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s son, Andrew Stanley-Powel was taken into custody and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC 187 – Murder.

Homicide Investigators said the motive for the stabbing is not known at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
