Several Suspects Detained Following Monday Morning Victorville Shooting

VICTORVILLE-(  Several shooting suspects were detained and one was arrested following a 3:03 a.m. Monday morning shooting at the Sherwood Villa apartments located at 14900 Arlette Drive in Victorville. Per scanner traffic one person was reported shot and people, most in dark clothing, were running in all directions.

The suspects were reported to have headed to the back of the complex where deputies witnessed a silver 4-door vehicle fleeing the scene. “Deputies arrived and saw a vehicle accelerating away from the complex. As they pulled behind the vehicle, the vehicle immediately pulled to the right and stopped. The front passenger opened his door and fled with both of his hands concealed in his waistband,” said Sheriff’s Spokesman, Sgt. Dave Burgess.

The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old convicted felon, Sanyika Swancy,  fled on foot and was quickly detained by on scene deputies. “The suspect was taken into custody and a gun was recovered,” added Sgt. Burgess.

According to authorities, Swancy was the  victim of an Assault with a deadly weapon on Sunday night on Jordan Place, but he didn’t want anything done.
