SILVERWOOD LAKE, Calif : (VVNG.com)- The wind driven Pilot Fire is continuing to grow at an alarming rate with 0% containment into Sunday night. Officials are working on obtaining the latest number of acres burned.
At about 6:30 p.m. authorities announced Hesperia Lakes would be evacuated. The Pilot Fire has jumped over Highway 173.
Authorities have shut down traffic on Lake Arrowhead Road near Hesperia Lakes.
Evacuations have been ordered for the Summit Valley area east of Cedar Springs Dam, according to the US Forest Service.
Evacuees can go to American Red Cross Reception and Care center at Ranchero Middle School located at 17607 Ranchero Road in Hesperia.
The San Bernardino County Fairgrounds are open for large and small animal evacuations. If you know anyone who needs a place to house animals please let them know. If you need assistance in moving large or small livestock, please let us know.
The US Forest Service reported that some drones have been seen in area of the Pilot Fire.
Many parents have reached out to Victor Valley News inquiring about schools being open tomorrow.
The Hesperia Unified School District posted the following:
We are watching the Pilot Fire very carefully. At this point, we are still planning for school to begin tomorrow. Currently, the Red Cross has set up an Evacuation Information Center at Ranchero Middle School. People with large animals who need to evacuate are being directed to the Victorville Fairgrounds. #pilotfire
