ORO GRANDE, CALIF. (VVNG.com) A male pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after he was hit by a southbound vehicle on National Trails Highway Tuesday evening.
The California Highway Patrol Victorville station responded to the location to conduct an investigation after the man was pronounced deceased at the scene, authorities said.
The incident occurred just south of Robinson Ranch Road on National Trails Highway. According to several members of the Life In Helendale/Silver Lakes group on Facebook, the man was witnessed walking with a trash can in his hand and a small garden solar light while allegedly staggering.
A female driving a red Fiat struck the pedestrian as he was walking along the dark roadway. The driver immediately stopped and cooperated with authorities, and there was no indication she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
A tow truck arrived on scene just before 10 p.m. to remove the vehicle. The incident still under investigation by the CHP Victorville Station.
