Pedestrian Killed on National Trails Highway ID’d as Victorville Man

ORO GRANDE, Calif. (VVNG.com)- Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed on National Trails Highway Tuesday night as Alejandro Barajas, 34, from Victorville.

On Wednesday, January 24, 2017, at 6:53 p.m., Victorville CHP was dispatched to a single vehicle traffic collision on National Trails Highway south of Robinson Road.

Authorities said a 64-year-old Victorville woman was driving a red 2014 Fiat 500 south on National Trails Highway at approximately 55 miles per hours. Due to a minor grade in the roadway, the woman’s view was restricted.

Once the female driver reached the top of the grade the vehicle struck the male pedestrian who, for unknown reasons, was within the roadway, stated Officer M. Blackwood with the Victorville CHP.

Alejandro Barajas sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 7:23 p.m.

The driver sustained minor injuries and her 6-year-old passenger was not injured. Neither of them was transported for treatment.

Officer M. Blackwood is investigating the traffic collision. Anyone with information can contact the Victorville CHP officer at (760)-241-1186.
