Over 2,000 without electricity after Adelanto power outage

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Thursday afternoon power outage has left over 2,000 Southern California Edison customers without power in the city of Adelanto.

The unexpected outage happened around the same time dispatch received calls reporting a transformer sparking on a utility pole near Desert Trails Elementary in the 14300 block of Bellflower Street. Scanner traffic reported the blown transformer was visible from the classrooms.

The school was closed due to not having any power and students were released to their parents. Scanner traffic reported a female adult at the school was checked out and cleared by medical personnel after receiving a small shock from the main gate at the school campus.

According to the SCE website, 2139 customers were initially without power and a field investigator has been alerted and is en route to the outage. SCE are continuing to analyze the problem and have not provided an expected time of restoration.

As of 3:30 pm, temperatures in the Victor Valley were in the mid-80’s.
