One Detained in Connection with the Winco Purse Robbery

APPLE VALLEY-( The suspected getaway driver from the Saturday afternoon Jess Ranch Winco purse robbery was detained on Monday morning when detectives linked him to a prior incident.

The Saturday, July 18th robbery began when an unidentified female was walking in the store parking lot located at 19047 Bear Valley Road when a silver Mercedes coupe with no plates drove up. The vehicle passenger, described as a Hispanic male adult with a silver handgun exited the vehicle and took the purse from the woman.

The man got back into the waiting vehicle and the driver drove away from the scene heading westbound out of the parking lot. A 26-year-old male, identified as Joseph Lacanlale was detained in connection with the Sunday afternoon robbery in a home in the 17700 block of Siskiyou Road. According to authorities, a search warrant was served to the home on Sunday night where unspecified evidence believed to be related to the robbery was obtained.

The second suspect, the Hispanic male adult described by the victim as about 5’6 and is in 20’s is still at large at this time. Information will be updated as it is received.
