ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com)- A failure to yield in the city of Adelanto resulted in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday night, authorities said.
On Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at approximately 11:40 p.m. a deputy from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station observed a reckless driver in the city of Adelanto and the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, later identified as 23-year-old Ruben Luna-Ibarra, a resident of Adelanto, did not immediately yield.
Luna-Ibarra continued driving and eventually drove into the parking lot of the Ridgeview Apartment complex located at 11200 Auburn Avenue in Adelanto and stopped his vehicle, according to officials.
“During the contact between Luna-Ibarra and deputies, an officer involved shooting occurred. No one was struck by gunfire or injured as a result of the incident,” stated a sheriff’s press release.
Authorities made contact with Luna-Ibarra and determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol. They also discovered he had two arrest warrants out of Los Angeles County. Following the shooting, Luna-Ibarra was placed under arrest.
“Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location and are conducting the officer-involved shooting portion of the investigation,” according to the release.
