CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A traffic collision on the northbound I-15 freeway is causing traffic delays for motorist Friday morning.
At about 6:35 a.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire responded to a multi-vehicle traffic collision with extrication, south of Oak Hill Road.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel located two sedans and one tractor-trailer involved in the crash with debris scattered across all lanes of traffic. CHP officers requested a traffic break for the northbound side prompting all lanes to temporarily close.
According to scanner reports, all occupants self-extricated and two people sustained minor-moderate injuries and required medical attention. Firefighters requested an air ambulance to airlift one patient to a trauma center, the landing zone was initially established on the I-15 freeway, but later changed to the top of the pass on Frontage Road, east of the 15 freeway. One person was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Motorist are reporting traffic south of the top of the Cajon Pass is at a complete stop. A SIG Alert was issued at 7:07 a.m., for the no. 2 and no. 3 lanes, according to CHP logs.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol – Victorville office. Information will be updated as it become available.
