Man Taken into Custody After Brief Standoff in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com)- Deputies from the Hesperia Police Department responded to a residence in the 13200 block of Cucamonga Court in Hesperia reference a report of shots fired.

Per scanner reports, at about 5:50 p.m. a resident called dispatch stating his neighbor threatened him with a gun, before firing the weapon into the air.

When deputies arrived, the 28-year-old suspect was held up inside his residence and believed to be armed.

Deputies established a perimeter and conducted PA announcements for the suspect. The sheriff’s helicopter also responded to the scene and assisted ground deputies with aerial support.

At 6:20 p.m. the suspect walked out of the residence with his hands up and was taken into custody without incident. A female, possibly the suspect’s girlfriend, also exited the home a few moments later.

According to public court records, the suspect was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on pc245 assault with a firearm on a person. Serrano is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 3rd at 12:30 pm.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
