Man Leads Deputies On Short Pursuit in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, CALIF. (VVNG.com) A 42-year-old male is being detained at the High Desert Detention Center after leading police on a short pursuit through Victorville.

At 2:28 p.m., two Victorville sheriff deputies were at Bear Valley and Amethyst Road when they reported a traffic collision at the location. Within minutes the suspect, identified as Antonio Rendon, fled the scene in his vehicle, a 2000 Chevy sedan.

He led deputies on a vehicle pursuit that lasted approximately 3 minutes. At that point, the suspect fled from the vehicle on foot after his car jumped the curb and hit a telephone box at La Mesa and Mesa Linda Road.

There was a 1-minute foot pursuit that ended with the suspect being taken into custody on La Mesa Rd.

According to Victorville Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez, it appeared that the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Information on any other vehicles or involved parties were not readily available.
